More Than a Photographer
Photography and animal welfare have always gone hand in hand for me.
My wife Jess and I run Heartbeat Haven Sanctuary, (@heartbeathavensanctuary), a small farm animal sanctuary in the Brisbane Valley where rescued horses, goats, pigs, poultry and other animals are given a safe place to recover and live in peace. Caring for animals isn't something I switch on for a photoshoot. It's part of everyday life.
Living alongside so many different animals has taught me that every one has its own personality, its own pace and its own way of interacting with the world. That's the approach I bring to every photography session, whether I'm photographing a family dog, a beloved horse or a much-loved companion that's a little more unusual.
Alongside my client work, I also volunteer my photography skills to animal rescue organisations across South East Queensland, helping them tell the stories of animals searching for a second chance.
It's why I believe the best photographs come from understanding an animal first and picking up the camera second.

Entry is open to residents of the Somerset Region, Queensland only.
Entries close at 11:59 pm AEST on 12 August 2026.
One entry per person.
Entrants must own, lease, or have permission to have the horse photographed.
The winner will receive:
A relaxed on-location portrait session for one horse.
The complete digital image collection.
A choice of either the Valkyrie Fine Art Float Print or the Floki Four Image Montage.
Total prize value: AUD $4,050.
The winning portrait session must be completed by 30 November 2026, unless otherwise agreed by Adam Wyatt Photography.
The prize is not transferable, refundable or redeemable for cash.
