8 Dogs of Somerset

A limited portrait project featuring 8 local dogs, photographed in a cinematic style and created as finished artwork.

I’m looking for 8 dogs from across Somerset to be part of a limited fine art pet portrait project.

This project is for people who love their dog deeply and want more than everyday photos. Each dog selected will be photographed in my cinematic pet portrait style, with a focus on character, expression and finished artwork.

This is not a competition for the “best looking” dog.

I’m looking for variety and personality.

What Selected Dogs Receive

If your dog is selected, you’ll receive:

  • A personalised pet portrait session

  • $200 credit to use towards any purchase

  • A complimentary 10×12 inch matted print

  • A private viewing and purchasing appointment

Session fee for selected dogs: $75

Artwork and digital collections are purchased separately.

Who Can Apply?

I’m looking for dogs from Toogoolawah, Somerset and nearby areas.

Your dog doesn’t need to be perfectly trained.

They don’t need to sit still for long periods.

They don’t need to behave like the dogs you see in finished photographs.

I only need a fraction of a second to create the right image, and I have plenty of ways to work with dogs who are excited, distracted, shy, older, nervous or full of personality.

All sessions are planned around your dog.

The Style

These portraits are cinematic, natural and designed for artwork.

My focus is on strong composition, natural light, shallow depth of field, expression and character.

The aim is to create portraits that feel finished, intentional and worthy of being displayed in your home.

Not quick snapshots.

Not generic pet photos.

Artwork of your dog, created properly.

How It Works

1. Apply

Tell me a little about you dog. I want to know their name, where you’re located, what they’re like, and why you’d love them to be part of the project.

2. Selection

Only 8 dogs will be selected.

Dogs will be chosen to create a varied and meaningful local portrait series. Selection may be based on personality, story, visual variety, location and suitability for the project.

3. Portrait Session

If selected, your place is secured with a $75 session fee.

We’ll plan a relaxed portrait session designed around your dog’s personality and comfort.

4. Viewing Appointment

After your session, you’ll view your finished images and choose what you’d love to purchase. Your $200 credit can be used toward any artwork or digital collection.

What If My Dog Won’t Sit Still?

That’s completely normal.

Most dogs don’t sit perfectly and stare into the camera.

They move, sniff, look away, get excited, get distracted, and do their own thing.

That’s fine.

A good portrait does not require your dog to behave perfectly. It requires patience, timing, planning and knowing how to work with animals.

If I can’t create photographs of your dog that you love, I’ll refund your session fee.

What Happens To The Final Images?

Selected dogs may be featured as part of the 8 Dogs of Somerset portrait project on Adam Wyatt Photography’s website and social media.

Each feature will celebrate the individual dog and the finished portraits created during the project.

You’ll also have the opportunity to purchase artwork, digital collections or statement pieces during your viewing appointment.
